So I have finally done some research on who to vote for to be the next governer of California, and I have made my decision.
First of all, I would never in a million years vote for Jerry Brown. I was in high school when he was governer the first time. I remember the supreme court justices including Rose Bird that he appointed that just threw the legal system into a tizzy. I remember attending a fireside by a lawyer who told us that the supreme court at that time was just making decisions with no logical reasoning and it was very difficult for the lawyers. Things that were no brainers to the lawyers were thrown out of court. Later the justices where ousted by the vote of the California people. Jerry Brown was considered a disaster by most people I knew in California. But his life in politics continued.
Initially in this race, I was going to vote for Meg Whitman. She is a successful business woman and has a seemingly moderate side to her. It seemed that Poizner was running a negative campaign and slamming her with untruthful stuff. Then Meg Whitman was slamming Poizner for lacking ethics. It sounded almost like a no brainer to me. Poizner wanted to cut taxes in an already bad situation which would just devastate California. Whitman was a level headed sucessful candidate.
Then I saw a news cast doing some fact checking. I saw the same thing in the LA Times the next day.
Meg Whitman’s claims against Poizner are false – outright lies.
Steve Poizner’s claims against Witman are true.
Meg Whitman seems to have a history of being a typical fat cat business woman who will do anything to her advantage while squashing the little guy and making herself filthy rich at whatever cost it may be to the rest of the society.
So I took a look at Steve Poizner’s website. I am rather impressed.
Steve Poizner was just as successful a business person as Meg Whitman was. After Steve made his fortune, he taught high school for a year as a volunteer. Then he sought work in the public sector while he really had no need to.
Perhaps finally after all these years, we can have someone who will make real cuts in the overly generous welfare state of California. And someone who will make the real changes needed to stop California from being a giveaway state to illegals. My biggest fear is that Poizner will get his requested tax cuts, then not make the budget cuts. In that case, we will have a problem. Poizner thinks the tax cuts will result in a net gain in revenue. I am questionable with this. Maybe we will get lucky but don’t count on it. Nevertheless, I have decided to send my vote his way. It is about time we get someone in office to help put our state back on track with the rest of the country.
